Life Has Taken A Turn For The Not So Good

Sorry it has been so long since my last post!!!!!
Life has taken a turn for the not so good at my house : (
My husband got fired from his job...... needless to say I am a nervous wreak about it.
There aren't many jobs/companies looking for 53 year olds to hire. To be honest with you I am scared to death. As you get older the jobs are just not there any more, the job service he signed up for called and told him about a job being a handyman at a church 3o hours a week at $9.00 a hour! Hello, how the heck could we live on that! That is $5.00 less an hour than he was making and we were falling behind with that. Anyway, the issue that is causing me to loose my mind is food stamps! I have filled out all of the paper work faxing everything over to them that I could, and I mailed a copy of the loss of income form to his former employer to sign. I have no idea if his former employer will take the time to sign it and mail it back to them or not.... he did fire my husband so they aren't on the best of terms. Food stamps says they need him to sign it or I can't get it. So needless to say being a nervous eater I am binging on all the wrong stuff. I have already gained a TON of weight back which makes me so sad : (  I was so proud of myself for losing all of that weight and I had never felt so good in my life about how I looked but that is all out the window. I NEED to get ahold of myself and get back on track but when ever I think of what is all going on right now, no job, no food stamps, no money is makes me grab for something to put in my mouth...... all of the great cool looking clothes I bought at the thrift stores are getting too tight for me to wear which makes me so mad.
Well I'm sorry this post is such a downer!
I hope to get myself out of this funk and find my MoJo again soon!!!!!
Until Next Time - God Bless!

Couponing & Estroven

Hey All
I started my couponing journey!
I am reading two great books on the topic:
Extreme Couponing by Joni Meyer-Crothers
Pick Another Checkout Lane, Honey by Joanie Demer  Heather Wheler
I am really enjoying both books! I am just starting to understand what I have been doing wrong all these years while shopping - You never just go to the store and just buy when you need an items, Your paying too much doing that. You need to wait till the items you want go on sale and then "stacking" both store coupons and manufacture coupons together for that item you get it at rock bottom prices! Of course how do you go from grab and go shopping to having enough on hand to be able to wait out until the next sale is the issue. These gals all stock up big when they find a sale, they buy enough to hold them off for about 6 to 10 weeks until that item comes back on sale so that they never pay full price for anything. Sounds really good but I am trying to wrap my mind around it all and implement their tips & ideas to get it up an running a my house. At this point I don't have a dime extra to be buying in large numbers but I am hoping once I get the method down pat I will be able to save some of my grocery money and put it towards stocking up. I cut out a number of coupons and went to Target yesterday and saved $32.00, That's a good start!
One of the items I did buy yesterday was Estroven - Mood & Memory, my doctor had recommended it to me the last time I was in there for yet another urinary tract infections. She said that Estroven may help with it by increasing lubrication down in the old women parts. I read the box and it said you need to take one pill each day with food for a minimum of 60 days, so I'm guessing I wont see any changes till the product has gotten into my system for awhile. If you might want to also try this product you can go to their website and get a $3.00 off coupon. Target had it for sale at $9.39 I had my $3.00 coupon, so I paid $6.39 for it. I'll keep you up to date on how this product is working out for me.
Until Next Time - God Bless!!

BeingThrifty Using Coupons

Have you all used coupons?
I know I'm late to the party on this one, but that's me always the one lagging behind everyone else!
Really have you had success with them? I have reserved a few books on the subject at the library which I hope to pick up tomorrow. The internet is filled with tons of sites which I was surfing today and you know what I screwed up my computer downloading something I shouldn't have - maybe I picked up a virus I don't know. Any how, I am worried I will buy a ton of stuff I don't need going this route. I signed up for the free 4 week trial over at Grocery Game, they do all of the searching for you and tell you just where to find the correct coupons to use. I  bought the newspaper on Sunday to start my coupon collection but it boggles my mind how you can "stack" coupons to come out with something free. I REALLY need to lower our food bill, we are really struggling with our bills so I figured why not give coupons a try. I will update you on what I find out and how it works out for me.

A Work In Progress

Isn't it funny to think at 51 I still feel like I am a "Work In Progress"!
I have an inner craziness going on that I really just can't explain.
Today's issue on my mind is: Thinning hair!
I have always had a lot of hair, I wouldn't say thick, but full would be a better word. I am now seeing that it looks like the hair at my temples is getting really thin and receding. I am not sure if this is from being over worked (I have used my hair dryer & curling wand more than ever these past few months), or is it another sign of the dreaded "menopause" or maybe it is just that I am getting OLD.
What ever the cause, I don't like it!
My hair has never been one of my better qualities, but since moving down to Florida it has gotten even worse. It goes without saying that the Florida sunshine can reek havoc on hair and my hair is no exception. I like to sit out in the sun and read a book  towards late morning to get my daily dose of vitamin D (I know I hear you screaming at me - That's no good for your skin, just makes more wrinkles!) and all that sun must damage & dry the heck out of my hair. I have also been trying different brands of shampoos & conditioners (I haven't found any to be exceptional yet) which may also be some of the cause of my hair loss since I seem to be washing my hair way too many times each week.
A few of the books I have read said that possible options are to take the women's equivalent of Viagra (I don't think my hair loss is at that point yet), they also suggested shampoos that add volume - I might try that and get back to you. I'm not sure if maybe a shampoo that takes care of dryness might not be the answer also since the hair looks sooooo parched!
If anyone out there has had experience with this problem, I'd love to hear what you have done to either help the hair grow back or at least stop the hair loss.
Until Next Time - God Bless!!

On A Quest To Be The Best Me

I just LOVE to read books!!!! My problem is I get so many good books going at the same time, It takes me forever to finish them!
Right now I am reading:
Trim Healthy Mama
Master Your Metabolism
How Not To Look Old
How To Look Expensive
Angela Lansbury's Positive Moves
Rinnavation: Getting Your Best Life Ever
I Quit Sugar
Can't you tell from the book titles I am on a quest to be the best me!
I find it "funny" (not in a good way) how most of the books & websites I have read the women have all had plastic surgery of some kind to their bodies! I was shocked to read Angela Lansbury (I am a Murder She Wrote junky) had some work done, I just didn't think she would fall prey to that kind of madness but I guess when your livelihood is being in front of the camera you need to take drastic measures to look and stay beautiful. In Rinnavation, Lisa Rinna is very forth coming in saying she of course had her lips done, had a boob job & also has injections if I remember correctly once a month to get rid of the lines on her face. It must be so hard for actresses to get older in our society. Of course I have no intentions of having surgery or injections, I have neither the funds or the nerve to enhance my appearance in that way, so I keep searching for "beauty" books where the women actually are aging naturally and what products they are using - If you have found any please let me know?
I have found one tip so far to pass along to you:
In Trim Healthy Mama, they suggested trying Estriol-Care, using just a small amount on your face to help rid yourself of those pesky wrinkles and you know what I found it to be very helpful! Now of course nothing less than surgery is going to bring back that baby faced look you had when you were young but this product helped I think restore a "glow" to my face. I really noticed a difference in the fine lines too. When I ran out and have had to go now for a long period of time with out it due to no funds available to buy it my face looks much older again I think. If you get a chance read Trim Healthy Mama, it really has a lot of informative info. to absorb! I haven't even gotten half way with that book (it is huge) but I have found it to be very helpful.
Well I am off to try and finish us some of these books, My library must think I have lost them how long I have had them.....
Until Next Time - God Bless!!

Meal Planning 101

I found a wonderful blog today off of the Trim Healthy Mama facebook page: Adventures In Womanland she has a lot of great tips & ideas on how to plan your meals. I always struggle with this and I think I spend a ton of extra money because of it. I am going to get my note book out as she suggests and get planning and see if I can't get more organized in that area!
Another bonus I found on her blog is she also dived into the exercise world via Jillian Michaels. I have requested one of the books written by Jillian that she suggested which looked really interesting, I can't wait to read it.
As for my plan to exercise every day has already hit a brick wall!!!! I do this I go all gun ho over something and then I just don't follow thru : ( I hope to get back with it tomorrow!
I did want to share with you one of my thrift store outfits, I bought everything: my jewelry, shirt, pants, belt, bra & shoes (except for my undies) used. I think I spend close to $10.00 for the entire outfit! I LOVE thrift store shopping : )
Until Next Time -God Bless!!
